DUSTWUN at Festival Internacional de Cine Alamos Magico

On the eve of the corona-virus outbreak in Los Angeles, we were already on our way to the FICAM Festival in Alamos, Mexico. Cinematographer Tomas Arceo made this short video about our trip, which includes the festival shutdown right before our scheduled screening. With no real context for the severity of what was unfolding, it was heartbreaking. We have been working on this film tirelessly for the past two years, and are at the beginning of our screening and festival journey. The pandemic has cast everything in a new light – not just regrouping around how to distribute the film, but, more acutely, what world are we bringing this film and its message to? Does it matter anymore? We ended up being able to show the film in two alternate venues, and the responses made me realize that the themes of compassion and connection amidst great panic and chaos is more potent than ever.

We are slated to premiere DUSTWUN at the Arizona International Film Festival October 2020, and are looking into streaming platforms to get the film to audiences now. The term “spreading” now has a very negative connotation, but it is our goal to spread hope with DUSTWUN. This is a very troubling time, but it is also a time of great opportunity to grow in new and positive directions as a global community.
